Heliotrope Journey is a 2D platformer with some RPG elements about a twelve year old boy who is accompanied by three companions on a journey across their world to vanquish a tyrannical sect composed of practitioners of black magic and frightening monsters known as the Veiled Nocturne. The adventure becomes far easier said than done as the game progresses because more of the protagonist's background and origins of the empire will be explored.

The game will be composed of web-based episodes that will start off with a four-episode demo sequence before it kicks off with the real story set to be made with Game Maker Studio 2. Music for the game is composed by Matt Waldron and all art assets not designed by Nelson belong to their respective artists, which are credited in the game after each episode.
